The video below explains the production process
Publishers
A video game publisher is a company that publishes video games that they have either developed internally or have had developed by a video game developer. As with book publishers or publishers of DVD movies, video game publishers are responsible for their product's manufacturing and marketing, including market research and all aspects of advertising.
Publishers will end to support and finance development. Other functions usually performed by the publisher include deciding on and paying for any license that the game may utilize; paying for localization; layout, printing, and possibly the writing of the user manual; and the creation of graphic design elements such as the box design.
Console Manufacturers/First Party Publishers
First Party Publishers are the companies that create and release the hardware, such as game consoles etc. These publishers will also publish games solely for their console. These companies are 'Gatekeepers' of the industry, as they decide whether or not to approve each game targeted for development on their respective console platforms.
Distribution and Retail
Physical: Distributors sell in to retailers, which deliver these games direct from their warehouses to the retailers. This will then allow the public to purchase these games. Retailers will begin to stock their shelves with games based on publisher/distribution negotiation, and organize point of sale promotions. Reliant on the manufacturer and supply of the games disc and packaging.Outsourcing Companies
These companies provide a huge variety of sources such as art, animation and design; rendering, graphics, physics engines and programming plus audio, sound design and localisation.
Press and Media
Press and Media are a large sector that contributes to development as it provides journalism, reviews and analysis for both companies and consumers. There are many ways to provide press and media these include magazines, websites, and even television. This is very important as press and media can affect and decide if a game is successful or fail, this goes for films too.
